The biological diversity sub-program of the Protocol for Especially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) of the Convention for the Conservation and Development of the Marine Environment of the Wider Caribbean Region (Cartagena Convention) of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) are pleased to invite you to participate in this exciting learning event as a part of a series of webinars on citizen science projects in the Great Caribbean Region.

The webinar will present the different tools to record sargassum sightings, as well as the products and services offered by the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico Regional Node NOAA’s OceanWatch program, that are directly related to the monitoring and follow-up of sargassum bursts. It will describe some techniques and processes that allow for easy access to global and regional satellite data products commonly used for sargassum monitoring and forecasting. It will also give insights on how to use this tools to better understanding, managing and protecting ocean and coastal resources.
