AGU 2022 Fall Meeting

Session OS010 – Harmful Sargassum Blooms in the Tropical Atlantic : in situ observation, remote sensing, forecast and management

12 – 16 December 2022 | Chicago, IL & Online

Since 2011, pelagic Sargassum abundances have increased significantly in the Tropical Atlantic: beaching events become more recurrent, thus disturbing the local populations and ecosystems. In this session, we propose to discuss the observations, forecasts and management of these harmful Sargassum blooms at basin scale and regional scale. This may include several subjects, such as: in situ campaigns, local coastal observations with cameras, citizen science, remote sensing, numerical modeling of transport and growth, and management at the coast.
The session viewer and abstract submission system is now open and abstract guidelines are now available to view. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, 3 August 2022 at 23:59 EDT. Abstracts will not be accepted for review after this date.
The conference is held in a hybrid mode, so authors will be able to present in oral and poster sessions whether they are attending in-person or virtually.
