The Dominican Republic delegation is on a mission to drive change, advocating for better financing mechanisms to address critical issues relating to climate change. High on their agenda is sargassum influxes.

A recent article published by Dominican Today titled “An operational damage fund and actions against Sargassum, the Dominican Republic agenda at COP28” sheds light on the country’s commitment to action. Vice Minister Milagros De Camps is championing the cause, highlighting the challenges posed by sargassum in the Caribbean, and advocating for urgent operationalizing of the damage and loss fund established at COP27. The fund is designed to address critical issues including the management of sargassum.

The plan for the fund is set to be unveiled at COP28 and will hopefully be a game-changer!
