UNEP Executive Director, the Abidjan Convention Secretariat in collaboration with the Environment Protection Agency of the Government of Sierra Leone partnered with UNEP Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities-GPA, and the USAID West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change Project-WABiCC convened to build knowledge on sargassum in West Africa, promote best management practices, and draft a common Regional Strategy on the collection of seaweeds and the creation of “Inclusive Green Jobs” in affected countries in the region.
