NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT
HIT RESET Caribbean Grant Winner
We’re pleased to announce that Rum and Sargassum Inc recently won a €300,000 Euro HIT RESET Grant towards scaling up sargassum biogas production in their Barbados-based biogas commercialisation activity. Rum and Sargassum Inc, has partnered with co-applicant, Atom Solutions Inc to apply to the HIT RESET Caribbean program via the development of an Innovative online app, the Sargassum biomass prediction app (SBPA), to support resilient coastal responses to Sargassum Seaweed influx in Barbados, via the prediction of the Sargassum biomass content in arriving Sargassum seaweed influx.
Their solution is already:
- Winner of “Best Solution” at the 2019 UNSDSN Global Solutions Forum: 100,000 USD seed grant from Blue Chip Foundation
- Winner of the 2022 Venture for ClimateTech Global Innovation Challenge 10,000 USD Prize
The Harnessing Innovative Technologies to Support Resilient Settlements on the Coastal Zones of the Caribbean (HIT RESET) project aims to enhance the capacity of government entities, coastal development agencies and coastal communities to identify existing vulnerabilities, anticipate impacts, and plan and implement mitigation and adaptation measures, allowing coastal settlements to become more climate-smart and resilient.
HIT RESET Caribbean is co-funded by the ACP Innovation Fund, OACPS Research and Innovation Programme, a programme implemented by the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), with the financial contribution of the European Union (EU).
