Meet the ‘AlgaRay’ the innovative autonomous robot developed by the U.K.-based startup Seaweed Generation. The Seaweed Generation is currently experimenting with this cutting-edge technology as a potential sustainable and eco-friendly solution to tackle the ever-growing problem of sargassum influxes. The concept involves intercepting sargassum patches heading toward the shore, dragging them back into the open ocean, and submerging them to depths of approximately 150 to 200 meters.
