The €300,000 HIT RESET Grant winners, Rum & Sargassum Inc. officially launched the SarGASsum project on June 07, 2023. This pilot project, which will run for 18 months, aims to provide biofuel solutions to the transportation and energy needs of Barbados.

SarGASsum has two deliverables:

• To set up the country’s first biofuel service station and;
• To develop a mobile app that predicts Sargassum seaweed biomass influx patterns into the island’s exclusive economic zone.
