Transforming Sargassum Challenges Into Opportunities for Caribbean Success
New Initiative Announced on EIN Presswire!
The School for Field Studies (SFS), Marine Conservation without Borders (MCB), and Stichting Nationale Parken Bonaire (STINAPA) launched a project titled ‘Novel Educational Tools for Local Ecosystem Sustainability Practices.’ This innovative project, backed by a €337,562 (US$355,406) EU grant under the RESEMBID program, tackles the region’s sargassum challenge head-on.
The initiative aims to create an ecosystem of education materials that are more accessible through a multilingual podcast and an online ‘Sargassum Champions Course’. The initiative will also see the development of a biocultural curriculum for schools, enlightening students about marine ecosystems and sargassum’s ecological impacts and business potentials.
These novel tools will help to raise awareness on the challenges brought about by climate change and its effects on ecosystems, as well as new business opportunities that can provide solutions. The podcast, available across four social channels, features stakeholder interviews, unraveling insights and solutions for sargassum enthusiasts.
